Native Narrative Tour

October 20, 2017 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Amy Locklear HertelNative Narrative, created by the UNC American Indian Center in conjunction with the UNC Visitors’ Center, tells the history of the American Indian presence at UNC through historical and contemporary experiences, stories, voices, and memories of Native researchers, staff, community members, alumni and current students.

The Native Narrative Tour is a Priceless Gem Tour, part of a special series of campus tours that provides an opportunity to explore one topic in more depth with an expert in the field. The name “Priceless Gem” comes from Carolina’s alma mater ‘Hark the Sound,’ written by alum William Starr Myers in 1897.

The on-campus Native Narrative Tour is offered the 3rd Friday of the month, October-April when classes are in session or by special appointment. All tours are from 3:00-4:30 pm. These tours are led by Native UNC students and American Indian Center staff. Visit Priceless Gem Tours for more information. It starts off at the UNC Visitors’ Center located at 250 E. Franklin St. Chapel Hill, NC 27599, located in the west wing of Morehead Planetarium Building. Free admission. Reservations preferred: mjfox@unc.edu or (919) 962-1630.

The virtual Native Narrative Tour is also available online anytime, along with other UNC history tours, by visiting historytours.unc.edu.
